People who belong to certain tribes have their own tattoo designs which identify them from other groups. Moreover, the practice of creating a tattoo in the past is considered as more like a right of passage especially among warriors. When a warrior performs a great deed, his fellow warriors often honor him by giving him a tattoo depicting such great deed. The idea here is to let the great warrior wear his achievements for everyone to see.
